dtac expands 4G coverage to support trial run at lavish new MRT stations

August 1, 2019 – dtac has installed signal boosters to provide 4G mobile coverage for passengers riding the MRT Blue Line extension. The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has begun offering free test rides to the public from Wat Mangkon to Tha Phra during the trial run starting July 29, 2019 until September 28, 2019. The official launch date of the completed Blue Line extension from Hua Lamphong to Lak Song has been set for September 29, 2019. The Wat Mangkon-Tha Phra section is part of the Blue Line extension that runs from Hua Lamphong to Lak Song. The MRT expects 20,000 passengers per day or 1.2 million passengers during the 2-month trial run period. To accommodate this increase in traffic, dtac has proceeded with a rollout of signal boosters and trials of both voice and data services. dtac will also bolster its coverage on the second phase of the Blue Line extension in time for its opening. “Farm Man Yum”, the collaborated application of dtac and ricult, is forecasting rainfall volume to prepare Thai farmers for the upcoming drought.

Farmers in the central and northeastern region must store the water to prevent the damage of their rice plants. The effective forecast is crucial due to the shortage and the delay of the rain in the second half of this year. “Farm Man Yum” provides an accurate rainfall volume forecast in various duration for the effective agriculture. 30 July 2019 – “Farm Man Yum”, the collaborated application from dtac and ricult, has revealed that the rainfall volume in the second half of the year will be low and delayed, especially at the northeastern region. The affected area are as followed: Choom-Puang district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, Varin Chumrab district, Ubon Ratchathani province, Meung district, Surin province, Pa Sak Cholasit dam and Ubolratana dam. Thus, the farmers in these aforementioned areas are encouraged to receive an accurate rainfall and weather forecast from “Farm Man Yum”. dtac reported strong performance in the second quarter of 2019

15 July 2019 – Total Access Communication PLC. or dtac reported strong performance in Q219. dtac focused on customer-centric network optimization to rebuild customers’ trust and confidence in the network.  Customers’ experience and confidence in the network improved with better perception towards the network and less complaints. As part of the ongoing effort, an acquisition of 700MHz through allocation in late June 2019 will provide an improvement opportunity in the near future to boost dtac’s network coverage nationwide as well as improve mobile internet experience in remote areas in addition to higher capacity for urban users. At the end of Q219, total subscriber base stood at 20.6 million with a reduction in subscriber loss to only 94k, best since Q116.  Number of 2300MHz base stations reached 16.0k, an addition of 0.6k base stations during the quarter. 348 additional 2100MHz base stations were also added in Q219 to fix coverage in existing footprint. Service revenues excluding IC for Q219 increased 1.6% QoQ, mainly driven by the removal of unlimited prepaid acquisition package with introduction of aggressive fixed data volume packages at a slightly higher price point, and continuous growth in postpaid.
